SOURCES BEFORE STATISTICS

Know what the data means.

Coverage grows through evidence and review, not by filling a map.

Office location ≠ investment geography

An office describes where a firm works. Investment geography is separately sourced. Worldwide scope and explicit exclusions are recorded distinctly; unknown never means worldwide.

Precise about precision

Verified business addresses can receive exact map markers. City-only information is labeled approximate. Unknown locations remain unknown and do not become a point at zero latitude and longitude.

Publication is a separate decision

Only an explicitly approved public projection is exposed. The source catalogue, private contact details and workspace records are not anonymous APIs. Exact offices need current sources, checked dates and publication review.

Freshness and withdrawal

Office evidence is due for review within 180 days, or sooner when its source expires. Stale, closed, disputed, withdrawn or residential addresses do not appear as exact public pins. Controlled public responses are uncached and active views revalidate.

Counts have units

We distinguish organizations, published offices, exact offices and organizations without an exact public office. Multiple offices do not become multiple investors.

Corrections are reviewed

Profile correction submissions enter a moderation queue. A suggestion never changes a public record automatically. Publication and withdrawal decisions remain with authorized curators.
